The Mosaic Company Issues Statement on Preparations for Hurricane Irma

PLYMOUTH, MN, September 8, 2017 – The Mosaic Company (NYSE: MOS) today issued the following statement regarding its efforts to prepare for Hurricane Irma:

If forecasts continue to show that Hurricane Irma is likely to move along the Florida peninsula this weekend, The Mosaic Company plans to idle its Central Florida phosphate mines and partially idle its concentrate facilities, to facilitate efficient resumption of fertilizer production following the storm.

“Our first priority is the safety of our people,” said President and CEO Joc O’Rourke. “We are executing our hurricane preparedness plan and taking extensive precautionary measures to protect our employees and assets. We are also mindful of our customers’ concerns, and we encourage customers to stay in contact with their Mosaic sales representatives as the situation progresses.”

We understand that the company’s supply chain partners in Central Florida are taking similar actions, resulting in port and rail closures, as well as interruptions in the supply of raw materials.

The extent of the impact on Mosaic’s assets and fertilizer production is unpredictable. The company will issue further statements as information becomes available.
